Intrepid End-User License Agreement¶
Version 2026-10
This agreement is between you and Roberto Bruttomesso (the "Licensor"), who makes Intrepid. It covers intrepyd, the intrepid library inside it, Intrepid Studio, the Intrepid Circuit Editor for Visual Studio Code, intrepid-server and the Intrepid demo website (together, the "Software"). Read it before you use the Software. By accepting it you agree to it; if you accept it for an organization, you confirm that you may bind that organization to it.
1. The licenses¶
The Software is licensed, not sold. Each part of it comes with its license: intrepyd, Intrepid Studio and the Intrepid Circuit Editor with the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0; the intrepid library with the Intrepid Proprietary License; the free and open source software they include with its own license, listed in their notices. This agreement does not replace those licenses: by accepting it you accept them as well. Where this agreement and one of those licenses differ, that license prevails for its part.
2. Noncommercial use is free¶
You may use the Software at no charge for noncommercial purposes: personal use, teaching, study and research, and the use of noncommercial organizations, such as schools, universities, public research organizations and charities.
3. Commercial use needs a commercial license¶
Any other use, and in particular use at or for a company, for its products, services or internal work, needs a commercial license granted in writing by the Licensor. Ask for one at license@intrepid-studio.eu.
4. The engines' license¶
The verification and test generation engines run under a license file, which says for whom and until when. You may not remove, change, forge or work around that license or its check, nor reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the intrepid library, except where the law allows it whatever this agreement says.
5. Your data¶
The Software runs on your own machine and sends nothing to the Licensor. On the demo website your circuits run on the site's server, as its notice and its privacy policy say. A server of intrepid-server that you or others run receives the circuits sent to it.
6. No warranty¶
The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows. A proof, a counterexample or a test is about the model it was given, under its assumptions, and only as far as the Software is correct: you remain responsible for your designs, their verification and their certification, and for the systems built from them.
7. Limitation of liability¶
To the extent the law allows, the Licensor is not liable for any damage arising from the use of the Software or from the inability to use it.
8. Termination¶
If you break this agreement or the licenses, your rights under them end. They come back under the conditions the licenses set, if any.
9. New versions¶
This agreement has a version. When a new version comes out, the Software asks you to accept it before its engines run again. A version of the Software you obtained under an earlier version of this agreement remains under that earlier version.
Accepting it¶
The engines run once the agreement is accepted, in its current version. The editors (the VS Code extension, Intrepid Studio) ask for it before their first verification. With intrepyd alone:
python -m intrepyd.eula show # the agreement
python -m intrepyd.eula accept # shows it, asks, and keeps the answer
python -m intrepyd.eula status # whether it is accepted
The acceptance is kept in ~/.intrepid/eula.json (%APPDATA%\intrepid\eula.json
on Windows), next to the license. In a script, a continuous integration job
or a container, set INTREPID_ACCEPT_EULA to the version accepted, here
2026-10. A new version of the agreement is asked again.
